Job Summary
The Resident Medical Officer (Critical Care) is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care to critically ill patients in the ICU under the supervision of senior intensivists. The role involves patient assessment, monitoring, emergency response, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality critical care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients in ICU
Perform initial evaluation, daily rounds, and progress notes
Assist in airway management, intubation, central line insertion, arterial lines, and other ICU procedures
Monitor ventilators, ABGs, hemodynamics, and vital parameters
Respond to medical emergencies and code blue situations
Administer and adjust medications as per treatment protocols
Patient Care & Documentation
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Prepare discharge summaries, death summaries, and transfer notes
Communicate patient condition and treatment plans to relatives
Team Coordination
Work closely with intensivists, anesthetists, nurses, and other specialists
Coordinate referrals and investigations
Ensure adherence to ICU protocols and infection control practices
Academic & Professional Duties
Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and teaching sessions
Stay updated with critical care guidelines and best practices
